Filming THIS RIDER Episode in Slovenia:
Gravel Cycling, Empowered Women & Epic Rides
We organized an unforgettable cycling adventure in Slovenia with Canyon Bicycles.
We had the privilege of hosting two incredible adventurers, Jenny Tough and Emily Chappell , for an episode of “This Rider.” It was an absolute blast filming with them—Jenny and Emily are total stars and incredible humans articulating a powerful message.
Their journey isn’t just about cycling in Slovenia; it’s a story of friendship, empowerment, and the importance of embracing yourself and your body. Through this film, the two women hope to inspire change in the way society talks about bodies.

“We’ve done our very best to frame the discussion in a way that is honest, healthy and inclusive, and we’re ready to keep on learning if there’s anything we’ve not managed to consider thus far,” says Emily.
This episode of “This Rider” uncovers an otherwise unseen part of Emily Chappell and Jenny Tough’s careers. Conscious that they are not alone in their struggles with body image, they openly discuss their relationship with their bodies with the goal of encouraging others to be kinder to themselves.
Empowered Women, Epic Bike Rides: Filming The Rider in Slovenia
The film follows Emily and Jenny on their trip through Slovenia. It’s a story of friendship and the importance of having someone to open up to.
“We hope that the film will start a thousand conversations and give people the space and opportunity to bring their own body issues into the light. It’s often only when you finally look the problem in the face that you start to recognise it for what it is, and for both of us, it was hearing the other person talking about her poor body image and thinking “but you have nothing to worry about,” that ended up being a lightbulb moment,” says Emily.
Through their journey in Slovenia, Jenny and Emily shared a message that resonates deeply with viewers. It’s about more than cycling – it’s about challenging societal norms, embracing one’s body, and fostering a space for honest, open conversations.
Falling in love with sLOVEnia
As Jenny beautifully put it: “I love Slovenia – it has everything you want and nothing you don’t.”
Emily added: “Slovenia was right at the top of our list.”
Jenny: “A few days of non-stop stunners on the gravel bike routes of Slovenia.”
From our stunning landscapes to the warmth of our people, Slovenia left an unforgettable mark on their hearts. It was more than just a cycling destination – it was the backdrop for an empowering journey, both physically and emotionally.
Important Conversations Through Cycling Journey in Slovenia
Matthew Leake, Canyon’s Road Brand & Marketing Manager, captured the essence of this project perfectly:
“Emily Chappell and Jenny Tough are both renowned for their incredible physical feats, the kinds of rides and adventures that genuinely inspire. What sets them apart even further are their skills in communicating, not just about their accomplishments, but around issues that really matter.”
He continued, “With this project, we wanted to provide a platform to an important conversation they have been having on body image and perception, a topic that many people can relate to.”
Their love for Slovenia’s landscapes and culture was evident, but their message transcended the physical beauty of the country. It became a symbol of personal strength, unity, and the power of being unapologetically yourself.
